The National Executive Committee conducts the affairs of the IAIAsa Affiliate on behalf of its members. The National Executive Committee steers the strategic direction of the Affiliate and forms a link to the international body of IAIA.
The National Executive Committee consists of at least eight nationally elected members: the President, the Past President, the President Elect, the Secretary, the Treasurer, three office bearers; and each Branch chairperson, elected regionally. All National Executive Committee members are elected every second year for a two-year term of office. Terms begin on 1 October and end on 30 September. Committee members serve two consecutive terms of office.
The NEC meets annually, traditionally at the time of the IAIA National Conference, to elect a new Chair Elect and to plan for the coming year. Every second month, a teleconference meeting is held to discuss progress of tasks and any other matters requiring attention. The Plan set at the Start Plan meeting is largely implemented at branch level, where most interaction occurs with the IAIA members.
